THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF GREATER MIAMI INVITES ALL ANIMAL LOVERS TO SUPPORT THE
WALK FOR THE ANIMALS
on Saturday, February 27, 2016
MIAMI, FL— January 27, 2016 – It is time, again, for the Humane Society of Greater Miami’s biggest and most exciting annual community event, Walk for the Animals! On Saturday, February 27, 2016, more than 3,000 people and their canine companions will gather at Bayfront Park for a day filled with fun and exciting activities for the whole family, all to benefit the homeless dogs and cats of Miami.
At the Walk for the Animals, going the extra mile to support our furry friends is literally a “walk in the park!” Starting at 8:30AM, people and doggies of all ages will enjoy a morning filled with entertainment, including a one mile walk around beautiful Bayfront Park, fun games, exciting raffles and greatly amusing people and doggie contests like the “Look-Alike” and “Best Kisser” contests. There will be activities for children to take part in at the Kid’s Area, which will have a bounce house, “Paw”casso prints and even a mini petting zoo with many adorable, baby animals, hosted by the Zoological Wildlife Foundation.
Your pooch will have a dog-gone good time at the Doggie Fun Zone, where he or she will become an instant track star without any prior experience. This enclosed doggie racetrack gives your dog the chance to try something new and fun while dazzling the crowd with his/her athletic skills and agility! Finally, you definitely will not want to miss an entertaining performance by the incredible Purina Pro Plan Performance Team. Watch these amazingly talented and athletic canines perform incredible flying routines!
We are proud to have Commissioner Sally A. Heyman as our Grand Marshall and we are excited to have NBC6 meteorologist, Ryan Phillips, emcee the event for the eighth year, joined this year with Julie Guy, morning anchor at 101.5 LITE FM. Registration opens at 8:30AM, contests will take place at 9:30AM and the 30-minute stroll around the park, with or without a dog, begins at 10:00AM. You can walk as an individual or form a pack. For all those who are looking for a furry addition to add to the family, you will definitely want to pass by the “Walk for the Animals Adoption Arena” where puppies, kittens, dogs and cats from local rescue groups will be waiting to meet their forever families.
Don’t forget about our ongoing in-shelter events!
