Animal Helpers at Work $15 per scout
Cadettes will explore how animals help humans and learn about careers in animal care
and welfare through hands-on experiences at the Humane Society of Greater Miami.
Time: 2-3 hours
Brownie Pet Badge $15 per scout
Brownies will participate in a shelter tour, followed by an engaging activity on pet
responsibility, and enjoy some fun cat and dog playtime.
Time: 1.5 -2 hours
Animal Shelter fun patch $15 per scout
Juniors will take a shelter tour, where they’ll learn about animal care and the importance of
adoption. They’ll discuss animal behavior, spaying and neutering, and participate in an
animal responsibility activity focused on keeping pets healthy, safe, and loved. The
workshop will also include fun playtime with cats and dogs, giving Juniors hands-on
interaction with shelter animals while learning about their needs.

Scouts
Animal Science Merit Badge $15 per scout
Scouts will have a guided tour and learn about rescue animals and the importance of
adoption. The workshop includes a presentation about Cat & Dog Body
Time: 1.5- 2 hours
Pet Care Merit Badge $15 per scout
Scouts will experience a shelter tour, followed by an engaging activity on pet responsibility,
and enjoy some fun cat and dog playtime.
Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge $15 per scout
Scouts will explore the shelter, meet shelter team, learn about the different career
opportunities in animal welfare and learn about the adoption process. Finally end with cat
and dog activities.
Public Health Merit Badge $15 per scout
In this activity, participants will learn how the shelter maintains sanitary conditions to
prevent the spread of diseases among animals. They will meet with the shelter team, take a
guided shelter tour, and enjoy animal activity time. Additionally, participants will help clean
and disinfect kennels, cages, and play areas, supporting the shelter’s health and hygiene
standards.
First Aid Merit Badge $15 per scout
In this activity, participants will take a shelter tour and enjoy animal activity time while
working with shelter staff to learn about common injuries and illnesses in shelter animals
and how first aid is administered. They will also assist in preparing a first aid kit, ensuring it
contains essential items for animals in need, supporting the shelter’s ongoing care efforts.
Entrepreneurship Merit Badge (No fee)
Scouts can develop and implement a fundraising event to support the Humane Society of
Greater Miami. They can choose to organize an Adoption Day Event, create a Pup Troop
for the annual animal walk, or lead a Donation Drive Event to gather supplies for the
shelter. This hands-on experience teaches leadership, event planning, and the importance
of supporting animal welfare.
