ADOPT A PET TODAY
Our goal is to find a loving, permanent home for every animal in our care.
Our Adoption Philosophy
We believe that pets are cherished members of the family. Every pet deserve to live in a loving home where they are provided with the essential care they need—medical attention, nutritious food, comfort, and an abundance of love. Our organization is dedicated to ensuring that pets are placed in forever homes with families who share our values and commitment to providing a safe, loving environment.
How to Adopt
- Are you ready to provide love and care to a new pet for up to 20 years? In addition to making sure your family and home are prepared to having a new member of the family, consider the costs and time commitment needed when making your decision. Click here to learn more.
Your new pet might have experienced some big changes, like being abandoned or surrendered by a previous family. Now, they’re heading to a new home with people they’re just getting to know—it can be a little overwhelming! By being gentle, kind, and patient, you can help your furry friend feel safe and welcome in their new family.
The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for helping a new pet adjust to their new home:
- First three days to decompress: Your new pet needs time to adjust to their new surroundings. Provide a quiet, comfortable room with their bed, food, water, and toys.
- Next three weeks to learn routine: Your new pet will start to settle in and begin to show their true personality. Be patient and introduce your pet to new people and environments slowly.
- First three months to feel at home: Your new pet needs continued training and structure. At this point they are building their trust and gaining a sense of security.
- Visit us during adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday 12:00p-7:00p.
- We strongly recommend a pet-to-pet meet and greet before finalizing an adoption.
- Walk-ins are welcome! Adoptions are completed, first come, first served.

OUR SERVICES
ANIMAL ADOPTION
The Humane Society of Greater Miami is dedicated to placing every dog and cat in our care into a loving home. We are an adoption guarantee shelter, meaning that every animal that is admitted into our shelter is free from the threat of euthanasia due to time, space or treatable medical issues.
PREVENTATIVE CLINIC
We offer a low-cost, spay and neuter and preventive health care clinic in North Miami Beach to serve the pets of South Florida. Preventative care includes: Vaccinations, Preventative Tests, Prevention Medication, and Purchasing County Tags. Humane Euthanasia is offered at the discretion of the clinic manager and/or attending doctor.
HUMANE EDUCATION
At public and private schools, scouting troops, special needs groups, local libraries, various community youth organizations as well as adult organizations, the Humane Society of Greater Miami teaches the young and old appropriate lessons about kindness to animals, empathy, responsible pet care and the causes and results of pet overpopulation.
SPAY/NEUTER SURGERY
Low Cost Spay/Neuter Surgery (image attached) A spayed or neutered pet will live a longer, healthier, happier life and will not add to the pet overpopulation problem we are experiencing in Miami-Dade.
