Please
note that this volunteer position involves a great amount
of time and an emotional commitment. These tiny babies
may require care around the clock. Children should not
handle these fragile pets. Potential Foster Care Volunteers

| Pet
Therapy |
|
|
The
Pet Therapy Program brings the uniquely healing human/animal
bond to residents and patients of healthcare facilities,
rehabilitation centers, children's hospitals and senior
citizen homes throughout Miami. The success of this
program is attributed to dedicated volunteers who donate
their time to visiting with the residents of care facilities,
hoping to bring a smile to someones face with the help
of something that we all cherish--the companionship
of animals.
To
qualify for the Pet Therapy program you must be a Humane
Society of Greater Miami volunteer. You also must be
able to use your own pet or a friend's or family member's
pet whom you feel comfortable handling. Your animal(s)
must be certified through the Canine Good Citizen Test
which will be scheduled at your convenience through
the Canine Education Department at Petco. Please note
that an additional orientation session is required for
the program. For more information, please call Lynda
at 305-749-1820.
