Adopt
Your New Best Friend from
Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-A-Pet! |
 |
|
The
goal of the Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-A-Pet's
adoption program is to find a loving, permanent home for each
animal in our care. Adopting a pet is a big committment! Are
you sure you're ready to: |
|
|
Keep
and care for the pet for his or her entire life
(which could last 15 years!) |
|
|
Take
the pet with you each time you move to a new home |
|
|
Train
the pet |
|
|
Make
the pet a member of your family |
|
|
Be
financially responsible for the pet, in sickness
and in health |
|
If
you are certain that you are willing and able to devote yourself
to providing a loving, permanent home for one of our furry
friends, please get your whole family together and visit one
of our adoption centers.
Take your time and visit with several of our pets. If you
have found yourself completely in love with one of the pets,
an adoption counselor will help you complete an adoption application.
Please keep in mind that the verification of information provided
within the adoption application may take more than one working
day. |
|
When
you meet with your adoption counselor, you will be asked to
provide:
|
|
|
Proof
of current vaccinations and licensing of the other pets in your
household, a copy of one of your utility bills, vehicle registration,
or voters registration, and written consent from the other adults
in the household (or better yet - bring them with you!), AND
|
|
|
If
you are a renter, a copy of your lease including the name and
address of the landlord, or written consent from your landlord
if the pet policy is not included in the lease OR
|
|
|
If
you are a homeowner, a copy of your mortgage or a homeowner's
insurance statement. |

| Didn't
find what you are looking for today? If you do not find the love of your life right away, please don't worry! The Humane Society of Greater Miami receives new pets daily, so please check back with us often-we want you to adopt your next best friend. We receive lots of beautiful, healthy dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens of all shapes, breeds and sizes but, if for some reason you do not find the pet you are looking for please ask about our Match-A-Pet Program or visit another pet shelter, pet rescue or humane society to adopt. |
MATCH-A-PET PROGRAM
The Match-A-Pet Program at the Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-A-Pet can help find the perfect addition to your family. It is designed specifically for people willing to wait for a specific purebred, a mix which looks like a purebred or a dog of a specific age, size or weight.
Dogs and cats that are either purebred, close to being purebred or in high demand because of their size and/or looks are put into the Match-A-Pet Program. These dogs' profiles are matched against each potential adopter’s application on file. The best matches are called in order according to date the adopter's application was approved.
If you are interested in being in the Match-A-Pet Program you must come by the shelter, fill out an Adoption Application and we will explain how the program works and determine exactly what you are looking for. We strongly encourage you to continue to come into the Humane Society of Greater Miami shelter while you are waiting on the Match-A-Pet Program; we often find that an adopter will fall in love with a four-legged companion that was not similar to what they had requested on the Match-A-Pet application.
The adoption fee is $185.00 for any dog adopted through the Match-A-Pet Program.
Please tell your friends, family and co-workers to adopt from a shelter. Many lives depend on it.
