While we continue to provide essential services for the community and their pets,
please note the following changes which will go into effect on Wednesday 3/25/20:

ADOPTION

Please fill out an Adoption Application form on our website. We ask that you allow 24-48 hours for us to get back to you.
  • An adoption counselor will contact you to discuss your application and the animal you are interested in adopting.
  • If approved, you will then make an appointment to come to the shelter.
  • When you arrive at the shelter for your appointment, please remain in your vehicle and text a specified number (provided onsite).
  • We will contact you via phone to let you know the next steps.
  • At this time, a maximum of two people will be allowed to participate during the meet and greet.
If you do not hear from a representative from the Humane Society of Greater Miami within 72 hours (after submitting your application) please email [email protected]. Please note, only applications received through the direct link on our website are reviewed by us. Applications through PetTango or PetFinder are not valid.

DONATE

If you cannot adopt or foster at the moment, please consider making a donation. Your support today will enable us to continue our mission and care for the rising number of animals who depend on us! Please note we are not able to accept donations of used items at the moment.

In order to ensure a safe and healthy environment for staff and customers we will be implementing limited contact clinic visits. If you find a friendly stray animal we ask that you consider fostering them until we resume normal operations. If you find an animal that you are unable to keep or must surrender an animal due to illness or emergency situations, please call first to verify that intake is open at 305-696-0800. Once you arrive follow the instructions on the sign in front of the shelter.

Our Shelter Precautions Include

  • Regularly sanitizing public areas with the same disinfectants that we use in our surgical suites and shelter.
  • Signage throughout the shelter encouraging good personal hygiene.
  • Staff are washing their hands and sanitizing before and after each appointment.
  • Team members are encouraged to stay home when they do not feel well or are showing symptoms and to avoid non-essential travel.
  • We are asking all customers to stay home or seek medical assistance if they are not feeling well.
  • We ask that all customers who have traveled abroad or who have recently been on a cruise refrain from visiting the shelter.
  • Staying up to date on government updates from Centers for Disease Control and the Florida Health Department.

Our staff is committed to you and the health of all of our shelter residents. We will keep you informed as more updates are available.
